通过博客链接数量来排名很具有实际价值，就像Google用Page Rank来排名的道理差不多。一个链接就相当博客世界的一张选票，优秀博客常被人推荐，因此票数就比较高。这比单纯的通过访问量（木子美的访问量就很惊人，当然BlogRoll就不会高）来排名科学得多。
我想这份排行榜对于国内博客界的一个非常重要的启发就是：博客并不是木子美现象所昭示的“网上写日记”，不是自己写自己个人的生活和隐私。博客是以个人的视角过滤新闻、信息和知识，为别人提供更有价值的内容。博客来源于航海日志（log），日志不是记录船长的个人私生活，而是记录航海中重要的信息，供别人参考。航海日志的优秀（他人参考价值大小）与否是衡量一个船长优秀与否的重要标志。
总之，优秀的博客不是表现自我，而且为他人而工作。InstaPundit.Com、Scripting News: 4/5/2004、Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters、Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things、www.AndrewSullivan.com - Daily Dish等优秀博客网无不是如此。
木子美对博客世界最大的负面影响就是误导了博客的发展方向，让无数少男少女都去网上写日记，使得博客在中国的发展完全偏离了正常的轨道，严重低俗化。
